Lady Catherine Erskine
Shortlisted Category A: Best Rescue of an Historic Building or Place – under £2million
Lady Catherine Erskine has been instrumental in transforming the family’s eighteenth century Cambo estate since 2015. Catherine’s pioneering vision to open up the estate to the local community and beyond has led to the redevelopment of the Stables block. These now function as a cultural hub that could tell the stories of those who had been involved in the running of the estate historically, while providing a rich and varied programme of heritage and arts events. Education workshops take place in the Learning Space and family walks culminate in a trip to the Nosebag café with fresh home baking made using many ingredients grown on the Estate. It is a place for memory making, imagining and community expression.
